Eye of Horus
The Eye of Horus video slot from RTG (Reel Time Gaming) was launched in March 2015 and is an Egyptian themed online slot. The game transports you to the land of the Pharaohs and Gods as you pursue your quest to find the Sun God Horus who had the body of a man but the head of a falcon. This online slot has suitably styled graphics in the form of Egyptian tiles and sound to immerse you into the game.
The Eye of Horus online slot is a 5-reel, 3-row, 10 pay line game with an expanding wild and free spins feature. You also have two bonus gamble features which are Card Gamble and Ladder Gamble. Each of these gives you the opportunity to increase your win further. The top prize offered by this online slot is £1,000. You can play the Eye of Horus at MoneyGaming Casino.
How to play Eye of Horus Video Slot
The Eye of Horus slot by RTG initially loads showing you the game board and all possible winnings lines. This will clear as soon as you make your first spin. The Eye of Horus is not of the highest quality compared to many other online slots from other online game providers and does not have an animated background like Spinata Grande as an example. It appears to just have a backdrop of columns from an Egyptian Temple, with the remainder of the game screen surrounded by various game options.
The game reels consist of Egyptian tiles with correspondingly typical symbols including animals and the obligatory card symbols being J, Q, K and A. You also have the expanding wild symbol which is in the form of the Sun God along with The Eye of Horus Symbol and the Temple Scatter Symbol.
Before you set off on your Egyptian adventure you should set your cost per spin using the two options available at the bottom right of the game screen. You can adjust the number of win lines from 1 up to 10. You can then adjust your cost per win line which has 8 levels ranging from 1p up to the maximum £2. You can set the total cost per spin to as little as 1p up to a maximum of £20.
To start playing this online slot, click the green button with the rotating arrows in the lower centre of the screen. You will also see a ‘Max Bet’ button if you have not already set the game to its maximum £20 per spin. There is also an ‘Auto Start’ option in the bottom left of the game screen. Choosing the AutoPlay feature allows you to program from 5 up to 100 auto spins.
As you start to play the game you will see that it is very simplistic in nature and the sound effects do make it feel like a land based slot machine that you would play in a casino in Las Vegas. It has a typical spinning reel sound that is found on many older style games.
As the reels spin, you will be hoping to achieve at least 3 scatter symbols which are the temple symbols. If you do then you will be awarded 12 free spins. If you get 4 or 5 scatter symbols then although you win a larger prize for the matching symbols, you still only receive 12 free spins. During the free spins feature, if you land the Sun God on any reel, you will increase your free spins by +1 and the Sun God will also upgrade tiles, giving more of the same type of symbol. Which symbol that will be is determined by the tiles shown at the top of the free spins feature.
Apart from achieving the free spins via the scatter symbols, you can also achieve increased wins with the expanding Wild in the base game. Again, this is the Sun God Horus and if any part of him appears on a reel then he will expand to cover all symbols in that reel apart from a scatter symbol. The maximum win on one spin is achieved by landing either 5 Scatter Symbols or 5 Eye of Horus Symbols.
Eye of Horus Video Slot Tips
Just underneath the first reel of the game you will see a paytable button. This will open up various informative screens that detail game features and rules. You will be able to see the different prize values for each game symbol and look at the win line mappings.
Also on the very top right of the game, you will find there are several options including a cog icon, expanding screen option and volume control. Selecting the cog icon allows you to adjust sound effect, music volume and overall volume. You can also choose to have quick gameplay mode activated. The other symbols are fairly self-explanatory. You will also see a question mark at the very bottom left of the game screen. Selecting this gives you fairly in-depth information about the game including rules and game functions.

Is Eye of Horus the right video slot for you?
The Eye of Horus Slot by RTG has a theoretical RTP (return to player) of 96.31% giving a house edge of 3.69%. This is a higher house edge compared to other available online slots and we have to say that this was noticeable during our play of the game. We tested the slot over 100 spins at a cost per spin of £1 and we found that the game didn’t produce wins as frequently as hoped with having dry spells of up to 14 spins without a win.
We would categorise The Eye of Horus as a medium variance video slot and would not necessarily recommend it as a slot to play to wager through a free casino bonus. If you do like Egyptian themed slots that have a look at our reviews for Secrets of Horus or Pyramid: Quest for Immortality.
